Victoria

After four boys, baby Victoria brought a whole new world of pink, bows and flowers into her family. From her newborn session to her beautiful first birthday celebration at Piccolo Toronto, this was one of those milestones that reminded us just how quickly the years go by.

Victoria’s Onederland: A First Birthday Story We’ll Never Forget

Birthday

There are some families we meet for one photography session.

And then there are families whose stories we somehow become a tiny part of.

This is one of those families. 🤍

Long before Victoria’s first birthday celebration, we had already photographed some incredibly special chapters for her family. We photographed her older brother Daniel as a newborn, watched him grow, and were there again to photograph his first birthday.

Then, a few years later, we received some very exciting news.

After four boys, their family was welcoming a baby girl.

And yes… this one felt a little extra special. 😊

And Then Came Victoria

When Victoria arrived, we had the privilege of photographing her newborn session too.

There is something really beautiful about welcoming a family back into the studio after photographing one of their older children as a newborn. You recognize the parents, you remember pieces of their story, and suddenly there’s this brand-new little person in front of your camera.

But Victoria wasn’t just the newest member of the family.

She was the first little girl after four boys.

After years of everything boy, her arrival opened the door to a completely different world — flowers, bows, pinks, pastels… all of it. 🎀

So when it came time to celebrate her first birthday, we already knew this wasn’t going to be just another birthday party.

And her mom definitely wasn’t going to hold back. 😂

Welcome to Victoria’s Onederland

The celebration took place at Piccolo Toronto, and the theme couldn’t have been more perfect:

Victoria’s Onederland ✨

It was whimsical, feminine, colourful and full of thoughtful little details.

The room was transformed with beautiful florals, soft colours, bows and playful touches everywhere you looked. After planning birthday parties for four boys, you could almost feel how much fun Mom had stepping into an entirely new world for Victoria.

And honestly, that is one of my favourite things about photographing birthdays.

The decorations are beautiful.

The cake is beautiful.

The venue is beautiful.

But the real story is always the people.

From Newborn Photos to Her First Birthday

This is probably the part of photography that means the most to us.

When we first photographed Victoria, she was this tiny newborn curled up peacefully in front of our camera.

And suddenly we were watching her surrounded by her family, celebrating her very first birthday.

Photography has a funny way of showing you just how quickly life moves.

When you’re living it every day, the changes feel gradual.

Then you look at a newborn photograph beside a first birthday photograph and think:

How did that happen so fast?

And that’s exactly why we photograph these milestones.

Not because you need another pretty picture for Instagram.

Because one day, these photographs become the proof of what your family looked and felt like during a chapter you can’t go back to.

Victoria First Birthday

The First Birthday Is Really a Family Milestone

We call it the baby’s first birthday, but anyone who has lived through that first year knows the celebration belongs to the whole family.

It’s twelve months of firsts.

First smiles.

First foods.

First teeth.

Sleepless nights.

Tiny victories.

Big changes.

And an unbelievable amount of growing.

For this family, there was something even sweeter about seeing four older brothers celebrating their little sister.

Five children, each at completely different stages of life, all together for one afternoon.

That alone is worth documenting.

Because years from now, the cake and decorations may be hard to remember.

But imagine Victoria looking back at these photographs and seeing what surrounded her on her first birthday.

Her parents.

Her brothers.

Her family.

And just how loved she was.

That’s the part that matters.

Why We Love Photographing First Birthdays

A first birthday can be beautifully styled and still feel completely real.

That’s what we try to preserve.

We don’t want every second of the day to become a photoshoot.

We want you to actually experience your child’s birthday.

Celebrate.

Talk to your family.

Hold your baby.

Laugh.

Eat the cake.

We’ll watch for the story happening around you.

Our approach to birthday photography is a mix of beautiful portraits, family photographs, party details and natural candid moments so that when you look through the gallery later, it doesn’t just show you what the party looked like.

It reminds you what the day felt like.

And Just Like That… One.

From photographing Daniel as a newborn…

to celebrating his first birthday…

to meeting his brand-new baby sister…

and finally watching Victoria enter her own little Onederland…

these are the stories that remind us why we’ve loved doing this for so many years.

Photography allows us to meet families at one chapter and, if we’re lucky, keep returning for the chapters that follow.

Newborn.

First birthday.

Another baby.

Another milestone.

Another family photograph where everyone suddenly looks a little older than the last time we saw them.

And somehow, before any of us are ready for it, years have passed.

So yes, plan the beautiful party.

Order the cake.

Choose the perfect dress.

Fill the room with flowers and balloons.

Celebrate it all.

But photograph the people you love while they’re there.

Because long after the decorations come down, those are the things you’ll wish you could see again.

Thank you to this beautiful family for trusting us once again with another piece of their story.

Happy first birthday, Victoria. 🤍

And welcome to your Onederland.
